Monday, September 12, 2022 was a historic day for Pinewood American International School of Thessaloniki, as Pinewood’s Early Years & Elementary School returned home to its original building. This was a return to the Anatolia College campus where Pinewood was established back in 1950. The newly refurbished building is located on the Anatolia campus, a facility that offers students an exceptional academic, social, and physical environment conducive to modern, flexible learning in Thessaloniki’s only international school.
It was a day of excitement for all of our students, faculty, and families as they entered their new school with high expectations.
Dr. Roxanne Giampapa, Head of Pinewood School and Vice President of the International Division at Anatolia College, addressed students in a welcome speech, stating that "inside the new building lies each child's bright future" and reminding them that "their Pinewood education is one thing that can never be taken away from them."
Anatolia College President, Dr. Panos Vlachos, welcomed the new students at the ceremony and emphasized the fact that Pinewood is "coming home," a milestone towards a full integration that was announced in 2019.

PINEWOOD SUPPORTS THE OLYMPUS MOUNTAIN MARATHON 2022
This year Pinewood proudly supported the 34th Olympus mountain marathon, organized by ΕΟΣ Thessaloniki. The magical environment of Olympus was the venue of the race, a mountain with a history whose origins are lost in mythology, and a destination for many visitors from all over the world. Its distinct natural beauty provides ideal conditions for holding the most historic (since 1986) Greek mountain running race. It is a combination of classic off-road run and mountain climbing with a large participation of athletes from Greece and abroad. Pinewood stands by the 260 athletes and 150 volunteers who participate this year.

AMMERMAN SCHOLARSHIP
The Alexander Ammerman Memorial Scholarship is offered by the Ammerman family to a new Pinewood student each year in the memory of our dear colleague, Alexander Ammerman, who served as Pinewood’s beloved librarian.
This year, Agapi Chatzigianni has been awarded the Ammerman scholarship. She has always been very fond of literature. Her years of study at the 1st Highschool of Panorama helped her delve deeper into this passionate and liberating domain of literature. You can see her original piece of writing and profile below.

PINEWOOD x MEMORY PROJECT
Ms. Konstantina Kapanidou's visual art class collaborated with the non-profit organization “Memory Project” to create portraits of children housed at an orphanage in Sierra Leone last year. The art elective students spent numerous hours painting with acrylic paints, one portrait each, while trying to achieve resemblance and capture the essence of each child.
The portraits have traveled to Siera Leone and have been already delivered to each child as a kind and caring gift. Our school has also sent a monetary donation to support the children’s needs. You can watch the special moments of the the delivery below.
