Dear EY and Elementary Parents/Guardians,

Today's letter contains details about the food services for our Early Years and Elementary students.

It is with great pleasure that we introduce to you the company that will provide your child’s nutrition at Pinewood. Melathron Food Services (MFS) will run the school’s canteen during the morning break and offer the catering option for lunch. You can read more about the company at the end of this letter.

CANTEEN 

Every morning, during the break, MFS will be on our campus. They have a canteen set up in our multipurpose room, next to the gym. Children can go to the canteen during the break to purchase a snack. There will be a variety of pitas, koulouri, toast, sandwiches, juice, ice tea, fresh fruit, and more. If your child wants to purchase lunch from the canteen, they will need to purchase it during break and save it for lunch. The canteen is not open during lunch hours. Your child must have money with them to pay at the canteen.

HOT LUNCH

Hot lunches will be available through the catering department of MFS. The menu is drawn up by the company's chef in collaboration with a dietitian - nutritionist depending on the season, the availability of the ingredients and the nutritional needs of the students. Meals include the main course, a seasonal salad, bread, and fruit (on some days). The menu is prepared monthly and will be available on the MFS website the week before the beginning of each month. NOTE: there are two separate menus - one for EY/Kindergarten and another for Elementary students (grades 1-6).

The meals are prepared daily in MFS' facilities, located within the school complex. It is transported in special thermoboxes and served to the students fresh and hot. In case of special dietary requirements (e.g. allergy, intolerance, etc.), please first contact MFS to be informed about the possibilities before proceeding with the order.

You are not required to order a meal every day. You can consult the menu and decide the days you want food delivered. The minimum order is one week's worth of meals per month. Please note that the deadline for ordering is 12.00 (noon) on Friday before the start of the week, you can also order monthly.

The price of each meal is 6.70 €. Payment will be made no later than one week after the order is made by depositing the amount into MFS' bank account or by debit/credit card. In the case of a monthly order, payment must be made by the end of the month.

ABOUT Melathron Food Services  

Melathron Food Services (MFS) was established in 2011 by catering professionals, in order to meet the needs of Anatolia American College, where its facilities are located. Having a fully equipped kitchen, and special cars for transporting food, MFS is responsible for all catering needs at Anatolia and now also at Pinewood. All menus are based on the Mediterranean food pyramid with smart additions to cover the modern trends and preferences of children.

The company is supported by specialized and highly-trained staff so that the proper storage and handling of food can be achieved, and to ensure that the meals cover all the nutritional needs of the students. 

All kitchen areas are disinfected at regular intervals, and all procedures are carried out in accordance with the new health protocol based on the instructions of EODY - EFET, regarding the protection and prevention of COVID-19.

MFS only works with certified suppliers and only uses raw ingredients. Their meals are an excellent combination of homemade flavors and offer a balanced diet suitable for children with an emphasis on reduced saturated fat and salt. MFS holds the Greek ISO 22000:2005 certificate of conformity.
