May 14, 2020

Dear Families,

As a reminder, on Monday, May 18, we welcome back students in Grades 7-12 (excluding IB2 students). Our highest priority in returning to campus is the health and well-being of our students, faculty and staff.

Guided by all measures for school health and safety during this period as defined by the Greek Ministries of Health and Education, Pinewood is ready to reopen the campus. We have prepared a page on our new Pinewood website where you may find details of these measures. Click on the button below.

What do I need to know before my child returns to campus?

  • School hours remain the same (8:30 – 15:10)

  • Parents must take their child’s temperature each morning before school

  • Temperatures above 37°C require the child to stay home from school

  • All bus routes are in operation (all families have been contacted)

  • During drop-off and pick-up, parents driving their children to school remain in their cars

  • Masks are highly recommended (one reusable mask will be provided to each student)

  • Limit of 15 students per classroom

  • Minimum of 1.5 meter distance between desks in classrooms

  • Additional supervision in place to maintain social distancing

  • No visitors are permitted in the school

  • All after school activities are suspended

What should my child bring to school every day?

  • Snacks and a lunch - canteen and catering are not permitted

  • Plenty of water - use of water fountains is not permitted

  • Laptop, charger, and headphones - all lessons will utilize personal devices

  • Backpack - use of lockers is not permitted

What if my child cannot return to campus on May 18?

In order to accommodate all students who cannot return at this time, live streaming will be available for all classes. Live streaming means that your child will be able to listen to and watch his/her teachers in real-time for each class. You can find the respective schedules here:  MS Schedule and  HS Schedule. It will be each child’s responsibility to log into all live-streaming classes at the appropriate times on the schedule.

If your child will return to campus at a date later than May 18 this year, you are required to indicate the date of return at least 1 week in advance by sending an email to the Principal, Ms. Mills. This is very important as we must ensure that we maintain class sizes of no more than 15 students.

Please find below the guidelines for the parents and students issued by the Ministry of Education.

We will utilize several class periods on the first two days to explain the new health and safety procedures to our students and answer students’ questions in order to promote a safe learning environment for all.

Sincerely,

Dr. Roxanne Giampapa

Head of School
