Dear Pinewood Families,
With the outbreak of COVID-19, our school, like so many others around the world, has been confronted with the challenge of adjusting to new circumstances.
Having completed Week #3 of online learning, we have spent considerable time working together as a faculty and staff to plan meaningful learning for all students. We have spent equal time listening to our students, teachers, and parents to understand the impact that social distancing is having on each group, how students and parents are handling the new mode of learning, how best to support our teachers, and what we need to do to continue moving forward for student progress.
What we’re finding is that there are a range of needs and requests for students, parents, and educators as we move through each phase of campus closure and we are working to find the right balance for all. It will be impossible to fulfill all requests, but we are listening and finding solutions each week. This is why each phase has had different approaches for reaching our goal – which is to deliver high-quality teaching to create a positive and constructive learning experience for each student in the virtual learning context.
I want to thank our faculty and staff for their commitment, diligence, and care in making this challenging situation a positive and constructive one for your children.
I also want to thank our students and parents for their patience, support, and confidence in our firm commitment to educating all Pinewood students.
I invite you to listen to video answers for each of the questions below, which are questions that have arisen and whose answers help articulate Pinewood’s vision and evolving plans for virtual learning. Please click on each question for the video answer.
